Embarrassing

Ravi said, ” But this is the gross violation of human rights..!”

Everybody nodded. They were all discussing recent court ruling. Court has ruled that being gay is illegal. It was termed by court as something unnatural.

Ravi further added, “How can you label someone’s feeling as unnatural. Who gives that right. They are not harming you. They are not raping anyone. They just want to be with someone they like. Isn’t it natural?”

John affirmed saying,” Well, I’m no gay and I can’t understand their feelings, but I most certainly thinks if that’s what they want, then they should be allowed. It’s a matter of choice and can’t be forced. Isn’t it what freedom is about? Or are we really free?  Independent?”

Ravi, “Truly said! It saddens me to see that I’m part of this country where court decides our bedroom choice and we may be penalized if we don’t abide.” Having said that, he suddenly looked in the corner and saw Sona smirking at him and a past scene popped up in his mind.

……..”Ravi and other team members were making fun of new guy who joined their team. They recently got to know that he was gay. And every guy was trying to remember whether he touched them. All others were having gala time and laughing their guts out. One guy said , “Oh my god! the other day he came over and touched my shoulders..”, followed by shrieks of laughter. And then comes Sona’s voice, ” Stop it guys! you are embarrassing yourself. Need this topic be discussed like this? Or should it even be discussed?”.. everyone rolled over their eyes with suppressed laughter. Ravi murmured,”self righteous queen..”. Sona heard that but choose not to react and meeting got over………..

As soon as he recollected that incident, he could no longer talk.

Very few time in our life, we get a glimpse of how hypocrite, how mean, how naive we really are. We think that we are very modern, we have free thinking, and are the best human possible. We try to justify that time to time. Had our life been a film, and we could watch it, we could see, what a lie that is. We are what we do, not what we say. When society has too many people whose actions and talks are not consistent, ruling like that happens. Because in talk we may pretend to understand them, but in doing we condemned them. And that’s the embarrassing truth of this society.

Generation Gap

Ruth tells me that she just cant’ leap the Generation gap she shares with her daughter and it’s getting on her nerves. She thinks that her daughter is a complete stranger and she doesn’t understand her anymore. Other people around us agreed on what she was saying.

I for my part was quiet because I think “Generation gap” is overrated. I think that failure to understand parent’s perspective and vice-versa is the most natural thing that happens with everyone. There is no gap. Parents have gone through the same process and have matured and now it’s children turn. It’s not like parents can’t understand but it’s just that they don’t approve.

When I listen to the stories of my parent’s childhood, I’m elated at the similarities we share. They were like me; strong headed, quick tempered and naughty. They were difficult for their parents and have quite a lot of mischievous incidents in their bags. But these only sounds like stories because I can’t imagine them doing things like that. Because then they would understand why I do what I do.

But as I said they have gone though the maturing process and now they know the implications of things they did and don’t want history to be repeated . I’m now somewhere in the middle of that process. Things I used to like, and my parents used to despise, are starting to irritate me too. I look 5 years back and think,”Was I really that stupid?”.  I’m starting to understand their perspective and for next generation I might be creating the ‘Gap’ with that understanding.

As a child , you have to go through this process, simple or hard way, and as a parent, you can just try to make that process smooth. Ultimately as some wise man said, “You can try to guide people, but you can’t change their destiny”. So stop worrying about this gap too much, it’s natural , run its course and ultimately finishes and waits for another wave.

I am Diverse

Though Diverse always points me to the diversity in countries, in the culture, in the nature. But today, I want to look inside me. I’m the creation of God and like all his things, I myself is diverse.

I remember from childhood, I was stereotyped. My relative would introduce me as a shy, introvert, studious, book-worm. For a while , I thought I’m like that. But then I realized I’m not. Even I don’t know what kind of a person I’m. Someday I’m introvert, someday extrovert. Some day I will study like that’s the only thing I came on earth to do, other day I’ll sky-dive or trek and talk to strangers like I’m doing it always. Sometimes I’ll think horror is the best genre in movies, other days I’ll disgust myself with anything horror. Weeks over weeks i’ll spend lazying around home, then I’ll have a fit to occupy each and every week with some crazy activity. I’ll dance… I’ll write… I’ll read…I’ll paint.. I’ll sing.. I’ll binge watch tv…I’ll be a gym freak…i’ll trek..i’ll rock climb…i’ll swim…i’ll race..i’ll drive….phew…and then I just may sleep.

Like each diverse day, I’ll be Diverse. You can’t predict me because unpredictable is nature and I’m nature’s most beautiful creation. 🙂

Who I am and why I’m here!

I was talking to one of my friend and he had different ideas about existence of humans. According to him, we are here just as a chance, there is no big plan which we all are a part of. There was big bang , and purely by one in a million possibility, we came into existence.

I listened to this and got very much disturbed by it. I can’t accept that we are here for no purpose except merely to exist.  I like to think we all are here to serve some purpose as per our own individual destiny. But what he said unsettled me a lot. I don’t want to live my life like that…just to exist and then fade away when I’m gone. I want to explain to world what is going on in that a little big head of mine. It may not be of much importance, but it deserved to be heard.

And though I can converse well, I think writing something strengthen your steps in this world, long after we are gone. Don’t we have enough examples for that? I always thought I would like to be a writer, but like most people, I always thought I had enough time. My friend’s speech jolted me back to reality. There is no time, you can cease to exist anytime. And then I think its high time to work on my plans without any delay. Because even if there is no big plan, there is my plan and I at least should be a part of it. Isn’t it?

That’s my reason to be here, and that’s what I am. An executor of my plan. 🙂

Happy Blogging!

Prompted by- Chaos

Off late there is a buzz going around in office about a project that has gone haywire. Observer of this story doesn’t know the particulars but he knows its a bad news. Rumors are that client has escalated this to highest level, they are way past deadlines and nobody knows what needs to be done. It’s in the bucket of Mr. A. However, except Mr.A everyone is worried. ‘A’ has a very cool character. No one has ever seen him agitated and he is considered very good in what he does. Observer has a great respect for him.

But then, Mr. A is super busy and even after constant rebuking from manager he didn’t get the time to finish this problem off. So, Manager decides to assign it to someone else. Everyone is horrified, no-one wants to get into beehive. Finally one has fallen prey and poor soul is struggling now. This new entry,  Miss B in the story, asks Mr.A for help since ‘A’ is the only one who knows anything about it. But to no avail. What Mr. A has explained is so chaotic that it seems impossible to implement it. Design Mr.A has created is beyond everyone’s reasoning. He himself admitted that he designed while he was drunk. There was a lot of pressure to finish design, he didn’t know much , so during an inebriated state, he created design and submitted it. And since it was so late, no-one bothered to look at design and hurriedly moved to next phase of implementation. And now, here we are.

Miss B is under duress, she doesn’t know what to do, it’s a critical project, so everyday 2 hours status meeting is a constant pain for her. She doesn’t have anything to show what she is doing since she doesn’t know what to do. She can’t even explain to manager what Mr.A has done which is ‘nothing’. Manager mutters some word regarding women doesn’t know a thing and then literally begs Mr.A to come for rescue operation.

Mr.A comes as a Hero, quit everything and immersed himself in finishing this challenge and in 2 days submits and comes as victorious. Everyone is praising him, people are admiring him, client is sending appreciation mail since he has finally seen final product, Miss B is standing in corner trying to get away from the stage of failure. Manager is proudly saying that if anybody could do it , it was Mr.A. Mr.A is gathering all these praises like a gentleman with a smile.

And observer is observing as usual. It was Mr.A who has created this mess, then got away with it for a while, and when other’s couldn’t clean his mess, he came again and cleaned it. And did it successfully and crowd goes wild. Observer respect for Mr.A is tenfold now since Mr.A has recognized the power of chaos and learnt to use it for his own benefit. He knows that chaos is the new standard!!

Note- Pardon me for creating such a chaotic story, but I couldn’t resist after looking at prompt 😉

Zip lining

In my adventure bucket list, I had Zip lining too as an item. But when I finally did it, I didn’t find it adventurous. May be because I followed top-down approach i.e. starting from sky dive and then reaching to Zip-lining. You are so excruciatingly harnessed up that even if you want , you can’t fall. So I added a bit of my craziness and was constantly flailing around while screaming at top of my lungs. This sure spiced things up because other got scared hearing my screams, that sure was adventurous and fun 😉

One was done at Zoom Ziplines at Mountain Creek, NJ.

Second was in Puerto-Rico.

Definitely second one was better..
